tolerance of negative criticism as part of organisation

Can you tolerate negative criticism? I see 2 reasons for someone doing negative criticism irrespective whether you can take it or not.
1. That person is influenced by third part y to do it.
2. That person has done for the sake of enjoying your reaction by rubbing you.
Both will have serious repercussions if the person who is receiving gets hurt. This is not simple issue. This will lead to think more about that person and angry/grudge upon him increases day after day.
Recently some of the institutes have banned this provoking business as it is triggering to campus violence.
I stayed like 11 years in university hostel and IIT hostel but still I cannot take this negative criticism.
