When you want to hire for your requirement in software org, what do you look at the individuals? Certificates? Experience? Learning ability? Communication and command skills? IF you observe most of the consulting firms have done hiring based on "ability to solve problems and learn rapidly" irrespective of whether the person is History background or CS background. Surprised? Technology change will be increasing...in future. so, one cannot hire for today. Every individual has to learn to pace with new technologies/challenges.
so, do not be in the mindset of "get a job with certifications". Will help but ability to demonstrate is more important than having records.
