BRM and BPM

business rules and processes are closely integrated in any business. BRM Business Rules Management and BPM Business process Management are part of business. In most of the cases, Core business processes are coupled with rules. However, number of rules are much more than number of core processes in any system. In some of the earlier systems , both BRM and BPM are integrated and separation is difficult. In the new systems, BRM and BPM are handled independently.
If they are closely integrated, what processes or mechanisms to follow to segregate them as BRM revolves around more changes(so much config management) whereas BPM often does not require much changes.
