Theft in my house

It was shocking for me when I went up second floor to open the iron grill gate. Iron rod is twisted and pushed inside to open the grill gate. Just after that I noticed some uncooked dal is spread over in the verandah and before main door. After walking over, I realized that main door was kept opened. That is it. I lost my breath for a moment. I realized someone entered the house thru the main door after breaking the lock latch. No lock there, so he(they) must have taken along with him(them). In the mean time, I called Vijji and others to get courage so that we can enter our house. We were really shocked to see broken and opened Godrej Iron safes. All are opened in a same fashion. I believe they must have put at least 10-15 mins for each safe to break. All lights were on that means they did not feel that some of us may come in between. They have opened almost every possible layer in the safes and wooden racks with each plastic cover. we started counting what did we lose? DVD players, Music systems, Speakers, Voice Recorder, watch, good amount of cash, several sets of Vijji tops and so on. Most important thing is they did not get but we lose are Godrej iron Safes. We gave a police compliant but response was not to find out thieves but to advise us how should we prevent theft? Was it a destiny for us or fortune for the thieves?
