Senior Manager

When do you say someone is senior manager? When someone has acquired sufficient knowledge in the areas of work like 1. can you understand the requirements of manager(and managers). That means his/her manager and other managers who reports to him/her(subordinates, can you call subordinates in the IT industry?. No one is subordinate) and what about peers? 2. can you understand the requirements of org? 3. Can you understand the requirements of skip level teams? 4. Can you understand the requirements of dependencies? 5. Can you read a person while discussion is on? All these we discuss is about current scenario? What about your understanding on future needs? Can you project the org? Do you have sufficient respect in the teams? (that comes with your behavior? and technology you own and provide).

Finally, one thing which will kill all the above is are you aligned with your Boss? Looks crazy. Yes, but it is the fact. There are very few managers who will work on merit of the team member to promote the individual (whether to a manager or to a senior member). That is what the reality is.
